This is part of the Tutor Marketing Blitz.

The best way to make sure your profile is at the top of every prospective student’s search is to post your services everywhere it is free to do so. Whether that is on Facebook, your Twitter, other social media site, etc… This tactic is specifically focused on utilizing Craigslist to direct people looking for tutors to your profile on Knack.

While this day is specifically designed for Craigslist, it can also be followed more broadly to utilize the functionality of a wide variety of websites and social media platforms. Essentially, it is in your best interest to have your profile show up in as many searches as possible, no matter where the students are searching, so that you do not miss out on any potential leads. The more impressions your profile gets, the more session requests come in, and the more money you will end up making.

1. Navigate to craigslist.org (it should redirect to the appropriate city-specific page)

2. Click on “Post to Classifieds” -- you will be prompted to answer the following questions

3. At this point, you will likely be required to create a free craigslist account (or login to your existing personal account)

4. Once you get logged in and return to the posting process, you will be presented with the Terms & Agreement

5. After you agree to the Terms, you will be able to create your post. We advise using the following template:

Posting Title: [SCHOOL NAME] + [SUBJECT] + Tutoring

Posting Body: Hey! I'm a [#] year at [SCHOOL NAME], majoring in [MAJOR], with a [#.##] GPA. I offer tutoring in: [COMPLETE LIST OF CLASSES]. 

For all of my students, I offer $20 off our first session together. 

I use a platform called Knack to handle communication and booking for my tutoring. Please chat and/or book a session with me on my profile here: [LINK TO WEB PROFILE].

When you go to request me via Knack (the link above) –– just enter "TryMeFree" upon sign up to get the initial $20 discount.

6. Make sure that you fill out the “Postal Code” and add your school’s address to the “Show on Maps” section.
