Knack has a network of on-demand tutors who are able to connect with you at any time of day. On-demand tutoring is best utilized when you're in a time crunch or haven't heard back from a peer tutor in some time.

Best practices before a session:

  • Be specific with your question
Having a specific question will help the tutor quickly figure out how to best assist you.

  • Upload any relevant files
Uploading files ahead of time can ensure that you make the most out of your session time.

  • Have a goal in mind to share with your tutor
Setting a goal that you want to achieve during the session can ensure that you and the tutor are aligned on expectations.

  • Don't expect your tutor to do the work for you
On-demand sessions are designed to provide support, not answers.

  • Remember that professional tutors are experts on the general subject
They may not have taken the same university course that you are taking. For course-specific help, meet with a peer tutor!

Best practices during a session

  • On-demand sessions are typically 15 minutes or less
On-demand tutors are available to provide access to quick help when you need it.

  • Be respectful
As part of Knack's commitment to creating a positive and productive learning environment, it's important to be respectful and appropriate with your tutor.

  • Utilize Classroom tools to convey your thoughts

Best practices after a session

  • Be sure to leave a review
We strongly encourage you to provide feedback as it plays a crucial role in ensuring our tutors are helping you in the best way possible.

  • You are unable to reconnect with the same tutor once the session has ended
This is why we encourage students to be very thoughtful with their intentions and use the session time wisely!

  • Reach out to a peer tutor, even if you don't need immediate help
Peer tutoring is a great option to build a long-term relationship with your tutor and maximize your potential in a specific course.
